Cleo "Bucky" Cogdell Johnson

With heavy hearts, we, the Staff and Management of R. Swinson Funeral Services, along with the Cogdell-Johnson Family, announce the transition of 74-year-old Mr. Cleo "Bucky" Cogdell Johnson on Sunday, July 26, 2026. 

Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at St. Augustus AMEZ Church on E. North Street; burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Robert Swinson, Jr. Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his mother, Melve C. Johnson of Kinston; four sisters, Jamelle D. Johnson of Townsend, Del., and Sallye Johnson of Arizona; Deborah Davis-Smith and Danita Davis-Beverly; and one brother, Darryl Gregory Davis of Georgia, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The Family is receiving family and friends at the home of his mother, Mrs. Melve C. Johnson, at 421 Duggins Drive, Kinston, NC.
