Gloria married the Love of her life – the late Mr. Jimmy Vaughn and from that union six children were born: Timothy Vaughn (deceased): Jeffrey Vaughn; Anthony (Linda)Vaughn; Lisa (Robert) Harris, Linda (Michael) Brown and Vonda (Kelvin) Baldwin all of Maryland; (10) grandchildren (Anthony and Terrell Vaughn; Robert and Malik Harris; Kayla Baldwin; Mateo Brown; Rachel Vaughn; Von Jr; Ivana and Ta’Yana Tyler and (12) Great-grandchildren Raniyah; Rayanna; Davon; Dayla; Zhiloh; Anthony III; Isaiah; Princeton; Oscar Valentino; Zhimir and Jeziah. Four sisters Ms. Addie Joyce and Ms. Doris Speight of Washington, D.C.; Ms. Janice Lane, Bowie, Md.; Ms. Vicky Brown, Silver Spring, Md. Four Brothers Mr. William Brown, Snow Hill, N.C.; Mr. Kenneth (Laila) Dixon, Snow Hill, N.C.; Mr. Alvin (Susan) Brown, Upper Marlboro. and Mr. David (Arlena) Brown, Snow Hill, N.C. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gloria was raised in the Browntown Community of Snow Hill, NC. She attended the Greene County Public School. Later in life she relocated to Washington, DC. She enjoyed working and assisting with raising her grandchildren and providing care to her mother who she loved so dearly. She dedicated 23 years of service to the Prince George Country School System, before retiring in May 2011.

Gloria was raised in the Church and understood the Lord to be her Savior. She later joined The First Baptist Church of Highland Park, Landover, Md. She participated regularly in the Sunday School Ministry and other supplemental Christian Education, she grew closer to the Lord and later reaffirmed her commitment to God. She encouraged her children to become to know the Christian Faith by attending Sunday School and participating in a variety of religious activities. Gloria so humbly shared her gift of love and compassion for others by providing “help” as found in 1 Corinthians 12:28. She had a ‘Green thumb’ and loved to plant flowers and to decorate. Gloria was the true Christian Matriarch of her family. Her life was an amazing reflection of her great love for God and her family and friends. The Lord was gracious to Bless our family and friends with her presence for so many years, nonetheless, her gentle and quiet Spirit will be dearly and highly missed.

“May the life I’ve lived speak for me. When I’m in the presence of my Lord! May the legacy that I have left on earth reach generation to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. May the life I’ve lived speak for me.”
