Gone but Not Forgotten
You could make anyone laugh, If they were having a bad day,
No matter how sad we were, You could take the hurt away.

You were ready to take on the world, Ready to do it all.
But God decided he needed you, So from this world, you left,
But you took a piece of all of us; Our hearts are what you kept.
Your seat is now empty, And it's hard not to see your face,
But please always know this, No one will ever take your place.
You left without warning, Not even saying good-bye,
And I can't seem to stop, Asking the question why?
Nothing will ever be the same, The halls are empty without your laughter,
But I know you're in Heaven, Watching over us and looking after.
We didn't see this coming, It hit us by surprise,
And when you left this world, A small part of all of us died.
Your smile could brighten anyone's day,
No matter what they were going through,
And we know every day for the rest of our lives, we will be missing yo u.

The Staff & Management of R. Swinson Funeral Services joins in sorrow with Rufus and Sanders the families of 23-year-old, Miss Jameka Shantel Rufus of Kinston, NC who went to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Vidant Duplin Medical Center in Kenansville, North Carolina.

Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at 1:00 PM at Hickory Grove DOC COC Church. Burial will take place in the Chapman Cemetery. A public visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019, from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM from the Robert Swinson, Jr. Memorial Chapel.

Jameka leaves to cherish her precious memories: her father, James Rufus; her mother, Shaneequa Sanders; her son, Jayden McClean; her daughter, Nylah Nowell Rufus; her brothers, Corey Jones, Orrice Person, SayQuan Carr, Semaj Rufus; her sisters, Asia Sanders, Keoshia Bright, Quantia Rufus, Brijonna Best, a host of family and friends.
