With heavy hearts, we, the Staff and Management of R. Swinson Funeral Services, along with the Newkirk Family, announce the transition of 68-year-old Mr. James Edward Newkirk of 1518 Kitty Noecher Road, Pink Hill, NC, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at ECU Medical Center, Greenville, NC.

Service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 24, 2025, from New Salem Church. Burial will follow in the Newkirk Family Cemetery in Rose Hill, NC. Visitation will be held one hour before funeral time at the church on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Mr. Newkirk is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Mae Newkirk of the home, one daughter, Lena Newkirk of Pink Hill, NC, one brother, Randolph Newkirk of Rose Hill, NC, and one sister, Sheila Floyd of Jacksonville, NC.
