With heavy and sorrowful hearts, we, the Staff and Management of R. Swinson Funeral Services, join the Mason family in announcing the transition of Mr. James "Tuffy" Mason of Kinston, NC, on July 17, 2026, in Pollocksville, NC.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from the Robert Swinson Jr. Memorial Chapel. Viewing will be held 1-hour-prior to the Services.

"Tuffy" is survived by his sons, Michael T. Jones, of California, and Xavier L. Franklin, of High Point, NC. Daughter- Charmaine Franklin of Greenville, NC. Brothers: Felton Mason, of Snow Hill, and Thurman Ward, of Greensboro, NC. Sisters: Mable Givens, of Winterville, Linda Best, and Rosalind W. Brown, both of Kinston.
