Janette Spruill

With sorrow filled hearts the staff of R. Swinson Funeral Service announces the death of Mrs. Janette L. Cooper Spruill, 88 years old, who passed away at home surrounded by her family on Sunday September 11, 2016.

Janet Lee Cooper SPruill, 88 of Aulander, NC (and Kinston) NC for the past year passed away at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016. Janet was born on Aug. 2, 1928 in Carteret County to the Late James Clanton Cooper and Kate Cotton Cooper Best. Janet is survived by her husband of 68 years Charles Edward Spruill of the home and her children - Edith "Edie" Spruill Hauser of Merry Hill, NC; Alice Spruill Rouse(husband Eric) of Kinston, NC and Jimmy Pierce of Southern  Shores, NC . Her greatest joy was helping to raise her five beloved grandchildren-Colby Hauser, Anna and Braxton Rouse and Browning and Parker Pierce. She also leaves behind a beloved sister in law Ruth Spruill of Aulander, NC as well as numerous special nieces and nephews.

She was an active long time member of Connaritsa Baptist Church. She served as a member of the Bertie County Boatd of Education. She also held various administrative positions with Bertie County Government until her retirement. Janet was an avid animal-lover and provided love and care for a multitude of dogs, cats, horses, ducks, and cows on the family farm, where she also enjoyed preparing large family meals.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday Sept. 16, 2016 followed by a memorial service at 2:00 at Connaritsa Baptist Church in Aulander, NC. Flowers are welcomed or memorial donations may be made to
