Jon Denise Smith Washington

With heavy hearts, we, the Staff and Management of R. Swinson Funeral Service, along with the Smith and Washington family, announce the transition of 70-year-old Mrs. Jon Denise Smith Washington of 608 Edwards Ave., Kinston, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at UNC Lenoir Health Care.

Service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from the Robert Swinson, Jr. Memorial Chapel, and burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 4 to 6 pm at the chapel.

Mrs. Washington is survived by her husband, Wayne T. Washington of Maryland, one brother, Robert E. Smith of Clemmons, NC, five sisters, Ella Taylor, Deborah Little of Kinston, Shelia Smith of New Bern, Gladys Smith of California, and Charmine Hill of Texas, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends
