Magdeline “Faye” Hooks Moore, 79, of Kinston, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at UNC Lenoir Hospital. Magdeline was born on June 12, 1941 in Kinston, North Carolina.
Faye leaves to hold dear memories of her life: her children, Steven Hooks of Kinston, Lesia Goodson (Robin) of Waldorf, Maryland, Sherrod Suggs of Boston, Massachusetts, Tanya Yearwood of Kinston, Audrey Suggs-Chamblee (Lewis) of Kinston, Kristal Suggs of the home, and Nina Thomas (Allen) of Lexington, South Carolina; grandchildren Millie Hooks, Hattie Pearson Morris, Michael Hooks, Maurice Hooks, Latoya Seay (Julius), Stephen Graham, April Drake, Antoni Perry (Katrina), Shalandra Perry, Lakenia Suggs, Chereeka Suggs, Sherrod Suggs Jr., Breion Goodson, Brandon Hall, Joshua Goodson, Christopher Suggs and Kiana Nicole Suggs; thirty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Shawn Howard; her aunt, Evelyn Baker; her sister-in-law, Edna Hooks; her daughter-in-law, Edwina Suggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who all loved her dearly.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 1:00PM at River of Life Christian Center, 301 North Secrest Street in Kinston, with Elder B. Wayne Wagner of Sand Hill Free Will Baptist Church delivering the eulogy. For those in attendance, it is requested that social distancing be practiced, and masks be worn at all times. The service will be followed by a burial at Sand Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 3181 Neuse Road in Kinston.
Services have been entrusted to R. Swinson Funeral Services, and a viewing will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 4PM-6PM at the R. Swinson Jr. Memorial Chapel, 208 E. Blount Street in Kinston. Cards and correspondence can be sent to the funeral home, or to P.O. Box 3355, Kinston, NC 28502.
